These drawings are about space and architecture, colour and joy. Drawing around flattened out boxes that once contained toothpaste, chocolate, tea etc., I create simple shapes on paper and then use colour to define the spaces that emerge. The spaces recall footprints of buildings, both real and imaginary.
I love making simple drawings like these. I get lost in the tactile experience of pencil in hand and paint on the brush. Paper has a life of it’s own: working on paper is like a collaboration between me and my tools, and the paper that holds my ideas and shows them to the rest of the world.
